There are about a dozen original Kimbo Slice Video Clips on YouTube and watching them is like watching a very frightening thing about ourselves deep inside the inner parts of our mind. Violence seems to be an obsession of americans especially, and we seemed to be fascinated with people like Kimbo Slice, and even Mike Tyson, well after he was tops in his sport of boxing.

I will predict that MMA, will eventually generate more money than traditional boxing events. I give it 3 - 5 years tops. Maybe less than 2, who knows. With people like Kimbo Slice burning up YouTube and now primtetime, it might even happen sooner.

Prediction: Abraham - Miranda II

http://www.247boxing.com/2008/June/PredictionAbrahamMirandaII.htm

Their first fight was great drama. Countless multiple-punch exchanges. Numerous low blows and head butts. 5 penalty points deducted. 1 broken jaw, broken in two places. And, most importantly, one highly disputed decision. When Arthur Abraham met and defeated Edison Miranda by unanimous decision in September 2006, they gave the fans one of the most exciting, if not technically classic, middleweight fights in a long time. These two will resume their rivalry on Saturday in Hollywood, Florida in what should be another thrilling match.
Abraham (26-0, 21 KOs) and Miranda (30-2, 26 KOs) are fighting at a catch-weight of 166 pounds, a fact that figures to be to Miranda's advantage. The only two losses of his career have come at middleweight (the disputed decision to Abraham and a knockout loss to Kelly Pavlick). But, Miranda has two impressive KOs at super middleweight and has seemed more natural at the division's 168-pound limit. Miranda, whose punching power is impressive at any weight, should be, at 166, throwing punches more explosive than Abraham has ever tasted.

But, if there is one thing Abraham, does not have to prove, it is his ability to take a punch. In the first Miranda fight, Abraham had his jaw broken in two places and continued to stand toe to toe with the fearsome Miranda and gave as good as he got. Whereas Miranda has dynamic punching power, Abraham uses heavy punch volume to rack up knockouts, something he has done in impressive fashion throughout his career. He is a come-forward fighter who throws in bunches, and throws with both hands. This stands in sharp contrast to the patient Miranda, who looks for the right time to land his big right.

I see Abraham being aggressive early, coming forward and using his superior footwork to dicate the pace and distance that the match will be fought at. He will throw and land more punches, but his willingness to trade at close range is going to put him in front of that big Miranda right hand. Abraham should win the first few rounds on volume and output alone, but standing in range of Miranda's right hand is not a plan that will end well. Abraham's tendency is to always be the aggressor, and I think Miranda will make him pay the price for his aggression. At 166 pounds, Miranda has too much artillery for anyone not named Kelly Pavlick, and I expect Abraham, even though he'll be ahead on the cards, will stand in front of one Miranda roundhouse too many. Give me Miranda in a middle-round knockout; let's call it Miranda KO5.

The First Pound-For-Pound Rankings P.F. (Post-Floyd)

http://www.247boxing.com/2008/June/TheFirstPoundForPoundRankingsPFPostFloyd.htm

For over 5 years, Floyd Mayweather reigned over the Pound-For-Pound rankings. A lot of people may have disliked his attitude, but no one who knows anything about boxing could ever say anything negative about his skills. But, now that Floyd is "retired" (a word that loses a lot of its meaning when it is used in the sport of boxing) who stands atop the Pound-For-Pound rankings? Here's one fan's Top 10:

1. Manny Pacquaio - He has fought in the most glamerous weight classes of his time and dominated the other Hall of Fame talent. The Paq Man has 7 combined fights against Hall of Famers Marco Antonio Barrera, Erik Morales, and Juan Manuel Marquez. His record in those fights is 5-1-1 with 3 KO. On top of his dominance of other all-time greats, Pacquaio has completely cleaned out the Featherweight and Super Featherweight divisions. The last fight he lost before the Morales loss (which he avenged with two knockout wins over El Terrible) was in 1999 as a 112 pound Flyweight. The only question to ask about Pacquaio placing #1 on a list like this is where does he go from here? He has already fought the big money matches in his weight class, so where is the next superfight? Pacquaio himself has floated the name Oscar de la Hoya, but every boxer, from 126 to 175, wants to get Oscar in the ring and collect an all-time payday. As of right now, after his mandatory defense against David Diaz, there's no telling what Paq Man's going to do next. But, for right now, he's #1.

2. Joe Calzaghe - Calzaghe answered a lot of questions when he came over to America and beat Bernard Hopkins in Las Vegas. After Ricky Hatton got exposed against Mayweather, there were a lot of people wondering if Calzaghe was another guy who built up a big record by "hiding out" in Europe. But, just like he proved when he whacked out Peter Manfredo and Jeff Lacey, Calzaghe showed he is not a product of protective matchmaking by completely outworking Hopkins and taking the decision. Even though Hopkins entered the ring a bigger man, Calzaghe was the one who moved forward and looked to engage Hopkins at all times and from all angles. His straight-ahead style made him a fan favorite in Europe and played well in the States. At the age of 36 and with 45 fights under his belt, it's hard to tell how much work Calzaghe has left in him. Rumors of a fight against Roy Jones at the end of the year are prevalent, and the name value of the two boxers should sell the fight, but the match I want to see before Calzaghe hangs 'em up for good is a showdown with Kelly Pavlik at either 168 or 175.

3. Miguel Cotto - If Casey Kasem were announcing this list, he would say that Cotto is "#3 with a bullet." No one on this list as a chance to make the kind of statement Cotto can make in his July 26th Welterweight Title fight with Antonio Margarito. Most pundits are expecting a Fight of the Year candidate (although I think Vazquez-Marquez III will be tough to beat) that should turn the victor into an A-list superstar in the world of boxing. Even without Mayweather, the Welterweight division is still one of the 2 or 3 most interesting divisions in boxing. If Cotto wins this fight, he could look at a rematch or try to do business with someone like Paul Williams. That said, if Cotto-Margarito is as good as expected, and Cotto ends up getting his hand raised, the clamoring for Cotto-Mayweather will start to get loud. And the dollars offered will get big. Mayweather will be able to ingnore all the talk. But, will he be able to ignore that kind of money?

4. Kelly Pavlik - The fighting pride of Youngstown, Ohio did exactly what he was expected to do against Gary Lockett on Saturday night and thrilled the crowd with a 3rd round stoppage. These are the kinds of performances expected of an undefeated Middleweight King who has knockout victories over the likes of Jermain Taylor and Edison Miranda. Common sense says that the winner of Abraham-Miranda II should try to do business with Pavlik, but "The Ghost" is quickly becoming the kind of superstar who can sell tickets and put viewers in front of televisions regardless of the opponent. With Oscar on his way out in a couple of years, Floyd "retired," and the Heavyweight division dead, the emergence of Pavlik has a legit superstar is the best thing boxing can hope for. And, as I said earlier, his first Superfight should be against Calzaghe at either 168 or 175.

5. Israel Vazquez - There are a lot of boxers who can make an arguement for the 5th spot, but I've got to give the nod here to Vazquez on the strength of the thrilling triology he completed with Rafael Marquez. These guys fought absolute wars, and to come out on top twice in a series like that makes Vazquez deserving of the 5th spot. There's no early word on what Vazquez is looking to do next, but his style guarantees that I, and a ton of other fight fans, will be watching.

6. Juan Manuel Marquez
7. Ivan Calderon
8. Christian Mijares
9. Rafael Marquez
10. Paul Williams
11. Antonio Margarito
12. Bernard Hopkins
13. Joel Cassamoyer
14. Ricky Hatton
15. Arthur Abraham

http://www.247boxing.com/2008/April/Recent-Boxing-News-Sees-Floyd-Mayweather-Up-Against-A-Wrestling-Giant.htm

Recently I was watching an entertainment news story about how boxing news champion Floyd Mayweather was set to have a match with a professional wrestling giant. The boxing news picture depicted a very small Mayweather looking very tough against his opponent who stood a full head and shoulder above him and out weighed him by quite a few pounds. The boxing news article went on to say that there were numerous matches that had been set up between boxing monthly champions and wrestling giants. Of course these are all in good fun and the show would be set up but it was fun to see how boxing news tries to come up with entertaining things that will keep the fans always watching and enjoying their favorite sports heros. I think it is a great idea for boxing news to cross over the line and involve heros from other sports in their highlight matches. It seems that the viewing public is always looking to watch something that is just a little bit out of the ordinary, including these kinds of matches listed on boxing new shows.

Boxing news - Car causes damage to champ's gym

http://www.247boxing.com/2008/January/BoxingnewsCarcausesdamagetochampsgym.htm

Tearaways drove a car into the side of a sports training gym in Compton Greenfield. Little did they know how close they came to being face to face with women's boxing champion Jane Couch. Now this is boxing news!

It was the next day that boxing news learned the details of this incident. The five time world champion who trains at the Spaniorum Farm Gym in Berwick Lane was on the premises when a car went off the road and collided into the building. The car left a 20 by 8 foot hole in the wooden wall of the building owned by her trainer. Of all boxing news, this is definitely some of the strangest.

Luckily nobody was in the gym at the time of the incident. If anything would have happened to Jane Couch, it would have made every headline of boxing news. Jane, who is 37, said she saw flashing lights and people outside so she went out to see what was going on. The following morning she turned out onto the lane and saw the damages. She was very annoyed.

This is great boxing news.....a champ like her was not too proud to put herself to work and help with repairs when she should have been doing promotional work! Police had been called and were trying to trace the culprits. Not the kind of boxing news anyone would hope to be involved with. It was the second time this particular property had been hit.

Jane Couch was awarded an MBE in last year's Queen's birthday honors. She served 14 years to the sport of professional boxing at that time. She should make the boxing news world very proud!

Of course my absolutely most favorite boxer is Rocky Balboa. He was every woman's boxing fantasy. (Every woman who loves gladiators--that is.) But the real life number 1 boxer of all times was Muhammed Ali. He was handsome, original, funny and a great, great athlete. I even had the pleasure of spending a whole day with him and several people. He was wonderful and gathered the children around him. Now his daughter Laela is a great boxer. I keep up with her on boxing news. I admire her as she is among the few women pioneering another place to excel. Boxing Monthly keeps me informed of who's who and what's what in boxing. There are so many new guys coming up. My husband and his best friend, an amateur boxer, never miss HBO boxing or Showtime boxing. Keeping up with boxing news is a game to them. Each tries to come up with something the other hasn't heard. Boxing Monthly is also one they don't miss. I check boxing news out, too, so I can surprise them.

RUN! RUN! The Russians are coming! Well, not to take over the good old USA, just to get in the ring and do a bit of boxing. This is boxing news the professional boxing community is loving. The sport of boxing has been in decline for many years but appears to be making a come-back and with today's boxing news report from Gotham Boxing and Bash Boxing, of a fight between Russia's top professional boxers featured in a star-studded world championship fight card scheduled for February 28, at the historic Roseland Ballroom in New York City, the sport of professional boxing is making a push for the limelight again and making boxing news.

IBF Junior Bantamweight champion Dimitri "The Baby" Kirilov of St. Petersburg, Russia, will be in town to defend his title against Cecilio Santos of Mexico in the main event. Kirilov began boxing at just11 years old, and has had a stellar amateur career competing in almost 100 bouts. He turned pro at the age of 19. The warm-up fight will pit the popular Dmitriy "Star of David" Salita, hailing from Odessa, Ukraine, fighting out of Brooklyn, New York, in the junior welterweight attraction. Grab your tickets now comrades! The teeth will be flying and the crowd roaring! Boxing news is going to be made!

Their flagship game that I think comes with every system is Wii Sports. Within that game there is a boxing game where players have to actually throw punches, move around and put up their hands to block. This interactive approach may not have made official boxing news but many people at first thought prolonged game play of this game was equivalent to actually working out.

A study conducted by the Dalhousie University in Nova Scotia tested players who played Wii Boxing for 30 minutes and then compared it to normal exercise. It was found that Wii Boxing is no substitute to real exercise so if someone says that playing the game is just as good as real exercise use this boxing news. There is a game called Wii Fit that was designed to be used as a workout. This has been today's boxing news. Wii Boxing is still fun though but it's no substitute for actual boxing training.

During a set of bouts in the Florida Keys, Eric Field did not even need one minute of the first round to knock out his opponent, Kelvin Davis. According to boxing news, it only took him 55 seconds. I looked for this boxing news video on YouTube but have not been able to find it there or anywhere else so if you know where to find it let me know.

This was one highlight of many during the "Fight Night in the Keys" event. I have never visited the Florida Keys but have heard and seen how beautiful they are. It seems like an outstanding place to hold a boxing event. Fans must have thought the same thing because 2000 came to cheer on or just watch the bouts. When I think of Key West images of tropical foliage, sand, clear water and the closeness of Cuba, come to mind but not boxing but I guess there has been countless boxing news come out of the Keys. Famed author, Ernest Hemingway even made it to and refereed numerous bouts. You learn something new every day.

Dateline: Portland, Maine. In boxing news, Margie Dunson, a former women's champion boxer during the 1970's, was arrested and faces up to 20 years in prison for assaulting a friend during last year's Super Bowl game. Dunson made boxing news when she rose from obscurity to become one of the top women's boxers of the 70's. According to an Associated Press article published in the Boston Globe, Dunson stabbed her friend John Jackson during a drunken argument while watching the Super Bowl at Dunson's home in South Portland. After her heyday as a pro boxer, Dunson allegedly struggled with booze and drugs for years, but finally settled in Maine, buying a house and raising a daughter. Dunson's arrest is a sad story, but unfortunately not unknown in boxing news circles. There has been many a washed-up former boxer from Sonny Liston right on up to Mike Tyson who has made the boxing news for all the wrong reasons. Whatever happens, I wish Margie Dunson luck and hope that she straightens her life out before it's too late.

The Jermain Taylor and Kelly Pavlik bout is going to be a super middleweight fight that will not only make boxing news but also give more insight to Roy Jones Jr. about who he will want to face next. Taylor and Pavlik have an equal amount revenge reserved for next month's fight on February 16 at the MGM Grand in Vegas. Here is the background on these two fighters. Taylor had held the WBO and WBC middleweight champion spots until he faced Pavlik in September. The Atlantic City fight seemed as if Taylor had it in the bag after he knocked Pavlik onto the mat in second round. Partially stunned, Pavlik rose up and put up a fight until the seventh round when the unthinkable happened. Pavlik laid a massive blow to win the fight. They had inked out a deal to fight twice even though the second fight would not be making boxing news with a chance to claim any titles but there had to be another fighter. And that fight is next month.

Above is an example of the kind of throwing power that Pavlik has against opponents. This huge victory not only sent Trinidad with his head down back to Puerto Rico but also marked the beginning of what should be a list of high profiting boxing bouts for Jones. Saturdays HBO boxing event showed promoters, fans and the whole boxing community that Jones is a man that still has the fight left in him. He once was the best fighter in the world. He has since slipped due to age, a couple of losses and boxing celebrities like Floyd Mayweather.

The next step for Jones is to prove that this weekend's boxing news victory was not a fluke and that he can still consistently win matches. He was quoted saying something to the effect of he is willing to face anyone anywhere. What he didn't say is that the money has to be right. When you are his age, injury is a large factor that could do more than end a fighting career. Who will he fight next? This will be big ESPN boxing news.

HBO Boxing Turned Into The WWE

<IMG height=161 alt="boxing news, hbo boxing" Boxing" src="http://www.moguling.com/Upload/www.247boxing.com/fix.bmp" width=398>

I don't know about you, but what I saw last Saturday on HBO Boxing was exactly what I expected. Look at this HBO boxing match if you can and you will see that the fix was in! As I had mentioned previously the seeming purpose of this fight was the bring Roy Jones back into boxing news. The latest boxing news is missing marquee names, and even though Roy Jones won't revive the stale boxing news, it is better than nothing. The first time Tito went down in this fight it was a "delayed" reaction and I have not seen many of those. When was the last time you were watching an HBO boxing match, someone gets hit on the head, and then falls on the canvas about 4 seconds later. I think Tito forgot he had to go down and remembered a bit too late. And how about the fact that nobody got really hurt in this HBO boxing match? Or how about the fact that Tito only went for the face when Jones gloves were covering? Or how about Roy always aiming for the head and not the face? The thing that should really be in all boxing news is how this fight was nothing short of a WWE match. See it for yourself and you will see the fix was in!

In Boxing News...Jones Earns Solid Decision, Defeats Trinidad in 12

<IMG height=87 alt="boxing news" news" src="http://www.moguling.com/Upload/www.247boxing.com/boxer.jpg" width=130> Jones & Trinida in Boxing News

In boxing news Roy Jones Jr. was just too fast, even in a fight that happened several years too late. Jones pranced and punched his way to a unanimous decision over Felix Trinidad on Saturday night, dominating a 170-pound matchup between two iconic boxers whose primes are well past.

Boxing news went on to say Jones (52-4, 38 KOs), the sport's erstwhile pound-for-pound king, taunted the Puerto Rican champion while clowning his way through the early rounds of his first significant victory in four years. Jones then went to work, knocking down Trinidad in the seventh and 10th rounds.

The 1990s' most dominant boxer had lost three of his past five fights, but Jones still entered the ring wearing a gilded crown — and the 39-year-old's once-peerless reflexes and heavy hands were enough to beat another declining dynamo.

Boxing news said Trinidad (42-3) hadn't fought in 32 months since his second retirement, but Tito still is Puerto Rico's most beloved champion, judging from the frenetic support from the Madison Square Garden crowd.

But the 35-year-old revealed the rust many expected in just his fifth fight in 6 1/2 years, his first since a decisive loss to Winky Wright. Fighting 10 pounds over his highest previous weight, Trinidad couldn't match even Jones' diminished reflexes.

Boxing Monthly: Should Boxers Banned By Castro Fight

http://www.247boxing.com/2008/January/Boxing-Monthly-Should-Boxers-Banned-By-Castro-Fight.htm

I was reading some boxing news on USA Today and came across an article about two boxers from Cuba that were banned from fighting by the insane Fidel Castro. The story goes that during the Pan American Games, Guillermo Rigondeaux and Erislandy Lara took off until they were later arrested for disserting their communist country. They were found to be applying for German visas; at least that was what a German fight promoter said. The two fighters obviously denied those allegations but Castro barred them from fighting for their desertion.

Rigondeaux has won two Olympic gold medals and Lara was the 2005 amateur welterweight world champ according to boxing news. Teofilo Stevenson who is the VP of the Cuban Boxing Federation wants both fighters to be reinstated. I agree. It is understandable why they would want to leave their country but according to them they were not deserting. Either way they are two of the better fighters that Cuba has. In recent boxing news, Castro stop fighters from competing in the World Championships in Chicago because of fear of desertion. Casrto needs to die or lose power.

HBO Boxing Countdown Has Begun for Jones and Trinidad

http://www.247boxing.com/2008/January/HBO-Boxing-Countdown-Has-Begun-for-Jones-and-Trinidad.htm

The HBO boxing countdown has begun as Saturday's fight featuring 35-year-old Felix Trinidad and 39-year-old Roy Jones Jr. is only days away. Don King has been the madman behind this fight's promotion. As you will see in the YouTube video featuring an interview with Roy Jones Jr., he is extremely confident in himself. He even goes as far as talking in the third person. That is too much if you ask me. He thinks that this HBO boxing event is going to last four rounds. Tito Trinidad thinks it will only go two. One thing is certain both of these fighters want to end it quick and aggressively. With these kinds of fight predictions, you know that both fighters are going to come out as the aggressor. I can't wait to see the KO punches thrown by both of these ageing boxers.

Boxing news will be made by the end of Saturday night. Boxing is making a comeback in mainstream media. An explosive fight has been promised by Roy Jones Jr. He also said at the end of the interview that this fight would be better than the Mayweather, Hatton bout. I hope so.

Manny Pacquiao Back in Boxing News

http://www.247boxing.com/2008/January/Manny-Pacquiao-Back-in-Boxing-News.htm

Manny Pacquiao has gotten a wrap for knocking out the best fighters that Mexico has to offer. I say this because the Filipino Pacquiao has beaten all stars like Marco Antonio Barrera, Juan Manuel Marquez and Hector Velasquez. He was the IBF Super Batamweight world champion, has held titles in the WBC Flyweight division and as I said beaten some of the best that Mexico has to offer.

Pacquiao's next fight will be against another Mexican great by the name of Juan Manuel Marquez. This HBO boxing event will be held on March 15 in the Mandalay Bay Arena in Las Vegas. This will not be the first time these two fighters have met. They fought almost four years ago in a bout that came down to decision and ended in a draw. They are both out for blood and each is convinced of winning. Who do you think will make boxing news as the winner of this fight when March 15 rolls around? Marquez is currently the WBC Super Featherweight champion. This HBO boxing event is definitely one to mark down on your calendars.
