Three days ago, Sergio Mora faced up against Rito Ruvalcaba for an ESPN boxing event at the Morongo Casino in Cabazon, California. The fight was predicted to go 10 rounds but was cut short during the sixth when Mora landed a flurry of punches that sent the referee to the ground when he attempted to break them up to stop the fight. That is where the boxing news controversy began. It is clear in the video posted above that Mora landed some pretty good blows before the ref began to intervene. Mora continued to punch, which sent the ref to his knees after he lost balance. Both fighters were on their feet and throwing punches as the ref got back up. As soon as he was on his feet, he called the fight in Mora's favor.
You tell me, should this middleweight fight have ended at this point? I personally don't feel that Ruvalcaba was entirely incapacitated. He had enough energy in him to continue to throw punches just before the fight was called. We may see more boxing news surrounding this fight in the days to come.
