hbo boxingWhile the Mayweather-Hatton bout may have taken place over a week ago, the results for how it faired in a media standpoint are just rolling in. Around 850,000 people purchased the match on Pay-Per-View. Think about that considering the bout cost 55 dollars to order. The fight also created 47 million dollars in TV revenue according to boxing news from HBO boxing. To put those numbers in perspective, this was the biggest HBO Boxing Pay-Per-View event ever. Mayweather is going to be laughing to the bank after hearing about these numbers.

The HBO boxing series, 24/7 created huge hype up until the match. I was all for a Hatton victory but the results were nothing I expected to see. Much of the Hatton support came from the 24/7 series that made him look like an unbeatable bruiser. Well, he got knocked out so I think a lot of that was just hype that worked. Just look at the numbers above. Mayweather is a master of promotion and the reported 50 million dollars that he got for the fight should be enough to hold him over for awhile.
